LANSING, Mich. – As part of its efforts to leave no potential member behind, Capital Community Credit Union has launched the Earn It Back program. “This program is very unique and CapCom is pleased to bring this opportunity to Tri-County residents,” said Jill Abendroth, Capital Community CU education coordinator. Potential members with a bad check writing history who are declined an account at the credit union have an opportunity to earn back their membership eligibility privileges. The program covers Budgeting, Credit, Financial Security and “Everything You Wanted to Know About Checking”. In order to reinforce the material learned, a quiz must be passed. Participants who complete the course will be given a certificate to open a savings account at the credit union. After three months of successfully managing a savings account, the member would then be eligible to open a share draft account. All classes are taught by Abendroth and are held at Capital Area Michigan Works!, a workforce development service center.
