ST. PAUL, Minn. – Under recently enacted changes in the Minnesota credit union law, St. Paul Postal Employees Credit Union has won approval to offer its services to residents of Washington, Ramsey and Dakota counties. The three counties have a population of over 1.1 million people. The credit union, which promotes itself as Postal Credit Union, currently has 42,800 members and 290.4 million in assets. PCU has four offices, three in St. Paul, which is the county seat of Ramsey County, and one in Woodbury, in Washington County east of St. Paul. It has plans at this time to add new offices. The expansion became possible after the Minnesota legislature last year changed the state’s credit union law to allow for community charters. “We are excited to share the advantages of credit union membership with those looking for a change,” said PCU President Russell M. Plunkett. “This gives us the opportunity to offer more people PCU’s exceptional services, products and rates.”
