PEWAUKEE, Wis. – The Wisconsin Credit Union League directors are soliciting comments from affiliated credit unions to a redistricting proposal from the league’s District Review Committee, a move they said will create more equal representation among districts for league directors’ elections. The proposal would reduce the number of districts in the state from 15 to five, with three directors representing each district. District Review Committee Chair Carol Adler said the plan wouldn’t change the league Board’s makeup in terms of the number of directors, it would only reconfigure the geographic makeup of the districts. A League statement said the plan “gives a more equitable representation of credit unions in each district.” Elections for League directors would be conducted by mail, and the League would oversee the nomination and election process for directors. Depending if credit unions like the redistricting idea, the proposal would be slated for a vote by credit union delegates at the League’s annual meeting in May. If passed, redistricting would be implemented in 2004.
