WASHINGTON-CUNA recently announced NBC Nightly News Anchor Tom Brokaw as the final speaker for its 2003 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, February 26. Brokaw, anchor of the Nightly News since 1983, will share his experiences on the current state of our nation and the world. He will provide in-depth analysis of current key economic, political, international, and social issues. The newsman has had a long, full career in broadcast news, covering elections, summits, war and political turmoil, as well as the September 11 terrorist attacks and the War on Terror. Brokaw also recently authored one of the decade’s most popular books, The Greatest Generation, honoring the people who struggled through the Great Depression and World War II. “Tom Brokaw is a journalist of great renown and accomplishment and he promises to be a real conference highlight,” CUNA President and CEO Daniel A. Mica said in a statement. “We look forward to hearing his insight and commentary on the major issues we will be facing as a nation in the coming year.”
