SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The corporate credit union network lost a true legend this year with the retirement of the venerable, long-time WesCorp President/ CEO Dick Johnson. But Johnson is not really lost. He’s already showed up as a consultant for a handful of organizations, including Honda FCU where appropriately he will be breaking new ground again trying to knock down barriers to permit Honda FCU to serve members in the province of Ontario. Johnson really had two careers. Before joining the credit union industry he spent 30 years with the Marine Corps. He joined WesCorp in 1976, and Johnson (76 when he announced retirement) said his retirement was spurred by wear and tear on his body that was starting to slow him down, but many doubt he’s slowed down a bit. Former Travis CU President/CEO Bob Siravo took over the top spot at WesCorp. WesCorp went from a highly-visible CEO in Johnson to a more reticent leader publicly in Siravo.
