Cabrillo Credit Union, San Diego, Calif., has raised $300 for Children’s Hospital through its participation in Kids NewsDay. Kids NewsDay, raises money for the hospital through the sale of special editions of the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper. The funds raised were from newspaper sales at all three Cabrillo CU branches and its administration facility. Cabrillo CU raises approximately $10,000 per year for the hospital. Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, employees volunteered their time to walk their way to a cure for leukemia during the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual “Light the Night” Walk. SSFCU volunteers also paid a visit to children in the oncology unit at Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital prior to the event. Volunteers presented the children with commemorative balloons and talked with them. This walk is the society’s main fundraising event to benefit research initiatives, patient services, and education programs. The event raised over $151,000. Robins Federal Credit Union, Warner Robins, Ga., has raised $1,059.00 for the March of Dimes by participating in WalkAmerica in Perry. Ten employees raised money for the event by holding bake sales, selling paper tennis shoes and through individual donations from members. WalkAmerica is in its 32nd year and is the March of Dimes’ biggest fund-raiser with a goal of helping all babies to be born healthy.
