ARLINGTON, Va.-Last Wednesday, NAFCU held an audio conference discussing NCUA’s recently proposed field of membership changes and what they mean for credit unions. NCUA FOM Task Force Chairman and Senior Staff Attorney Mike McKenna served as the main speaker. McKenna explained some of the key amendments in the proposal to listeners and took questions concerning specific situations and whether the changes to the Field of Membership Chartering Manual would help them. NAFCU Director of Regulatory Affairs Gwen Baker pointed out that many of the changes in the proposed regulation were items that NAFCU had been seeking. McKenna said that the proposal would appear in the Federal Register December 5 and the comments would be due by February 3.
