ONTARIO, Calif. – Credit union members whose ATM cards bear the CO-OP Network logo and who are passing through Los Angeles International Airport will be able to access fee-free ATM services through an agreement between the $3.8 billion American Airlines Federal Credit Union (AFFCU), based in Fort Worth, Texas, the $465 million Western Federal Credit Union, based in Los Angeles, the CO-OP Network and the city of Los Angeles. Under the agreement the partners will deploy, beginning January 1, 2003, 26 ATMs at LAX, as well as five at the Ontario International Airport and one at the Van Nuys Transportation facility. The city of Los Angeles runs all three airports, CO-OP said. “AAFCU serves the financial needs of American Airlines employees, their families and our credit union members,” says John Tippets, CEO of AAFCU, which currently has more than 117,000 cardholders. “This agreement conveniently places our ATMs at two major airports where a significant number of our members work and travel. “As a member credit union of CO-OP Network, our cardholders have access to nearly 15,000 surcharge-free ATMs across the country. This agreement is another great opportunity for us and I hope similar arrangements with other airports will now be possible.”
