Langley Federal Credit Union, Hampton, Va., in conjunction with Entercom Radio and Riverside Regional Medical Center hosted Riverside’s Mobile Mammography Unit. A total of 24 women were screened for breast cancer during the six-hour live radio broadcast event. Central Florida Educators’ Federal Credit Union, Orlando, has donated $5,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The funds will be used to build a second Ronald McDonald House here. The house provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of critically ill children being treated at nearby hospitals. CEFCU, Peoria, Ill., has donated $5,000 to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Center Capital Campaign. The funds will be used to build a new day care facility that will focus on providing a secure, stimulating and friendly environment for local children. Lockheed Georgia Employees’ Federal Credit Union, Marietta, has collected over 1,500 books for children in need. The books will help build reading skills of those children enrolled in the Georgia Early Learning Initiative state licensed child care facilities and area homeless shelters. Lockheed Federal Credit Union, Burbank, Calif., has sponsored the annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraiser. A team of LFCU employees also participated in the walk itself while others manned a booth at the event expo. Visions Federal Credit Union, Endicott, N.Y., has donated $7,000 to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. A record 5,000 walkers from area companies, organizations and schools participated and raised over $190,000. Kinecta Federal Credit Union, has raised more than $13,000 for the AIDS Walk for Minority Women and Children. The credit union team of employees, family and friends joined more than 60,000 other runners and walkers in the two events, which supported the fights against AIDS and breast and ovarian cancer.
