NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Robert Street, president/CEO, American First Credit Union, LaHabra, Calif. was elected the new chairman of the American Credit Union Mortgage Association. He has served as the vice chairman of the association for the past three years. The election was held during the association’s annual meeting as part of the Technology and Leadership Conference recently held in Las Vegas. Street succeeds retiring ACUMA chairman and founder Brian Litster, former director of real estate lending, Xerox FCU, El Segundo, Calif. Street has been president/CEO of AFCU since 1990. The $497 million credit union has a very aggressive mortgage strategy. Prior to that, Street served as president/CEO of Nevada FCU in Las Vegas, and he is considered to be a pioneer in CUSO mortgage banking with the creation of a mortgage banking subsidiary. The CUSO built a mortgage loan-servicing portfolio of almost $50 million more than 15 years ago. The credit union was also one of the first active credit union seller-servicers with FNMA and FHLMC.
