CNBS raises $35,000 for MS

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -A team of cyclists Corporate Network Brokerage Services sponsored in the 2002 Kansas City MS150 raised over $35,000 in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. The MS 150, a two-day, 150-mile bike ride to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society was held in September. The team, Team COR, is also sponsored by the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection (COR) in Leawood, Kansas. Brian Hague, President of CNBS and Team COR’s captain, said not only did this year’s team grow, but so did the fundraising. “Last year 22 riders participated, and raised over $11,500, winning the `Rookie of the Year’ Award for raising the most funds of any first-year team,” Hague said. “This year Team COR was the third-largest team, with 70 riders, so we tripled both our team size and the dollars we raised.” The growth resulted in Team COR receiving awards for the Most Improved Fundraising Team and the Largest Growth of a Veteran Team. The team, which included four CNBS employees, rode 100 miles the first day and 50 the second in this year’s MS 150. The Kansas City event, sponsored by the Mid-America Chapter of the National MS Society, attracts over 2,000 cyclists each year. Funds raised are devoted to research, programs to assist individuals with MS and their families, and public and professional education. Approximately a third of a million Americans are afflicted with MS, and every week about 200 people are diagnosed with the disease.
