HARRISBURG, Pa. – The State Credit Union Parity Bill was unanimously voted out of the state House Commerce & Economic Development Committee on Oct. 22. Senate Bill 1222, which would give Pennsylvania's state-chartered credit unions parity with federal credit unions, was introduced late last year and was passed out of the Senate in June 2002. From there it went to the House Commerce & Economic Development Committee. Jan Hartman, vice president, governmental affairs for the Pennsylvania Credit Union League said, "We expect full passage by the House when they return to session following the November elections."
