Matz tells Connecticut corporates to serve in all ways possible

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.-NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz addressed the Constitution State Corporate Credit Union’s 2002 Economic and Technology Conference telling attendees that they need to serve in any way possible and requested guidance in identifying obstacles for corporates. This follows on the heels of the October board meeting, where Matz voted against a popular, long-awaited update to the corporate credit union rule. “I am always available to hear your concerns and hope to work closely with you to see that our mutual goals are accomplished and that tomorrow’s challenges are met,” Matz told the credit union leaders. “There is much more NCUA can do to help credit unions of all sizes attract and serve members. I look to you, the experts, for guidance in identifying [regulatory and examination] obstacles and charting a course through them.” She urged credit unions to support financial literacy within their fields of membership, which will add to their membership numbers in return. “Continued and expanded credit union involvement in [financial literacy] programs is essential for the financial success of your members as well as your credit union,” she said.
