CROMWELL, Conn. – The Department of Banking and Consumer Credit Division are sponsoring the "2002 Predatory Lending Conference" Nov. 19. The one-day conference at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center is designed, said a news release, "to educate mortgage lending professionals, and those in related industries, about the laws and regulations that are in place to prevent predatory lending." In addition to speakers providing the state and federal perspectives of predatory lending laws, other lending experts will cover issues such as: The Challenge of Predatory Lending Protection: Safeguarding Consumers While Maintaining Available Credit; Responsibility of Real Estate Industry & Home Contractors; Educational Responses to Predatory Lending; and What Do We Look For as State Regulators.
