Numerica Credit Union, Spokane, Wash., has donated over 2,200 items that children need in their classrooms. Items ranged from pencils and paper to crayons, markers, and even backpacks. The following schools benefited from Numerica’s donations: Sheridan Elementary School, Arlington Elementary School, Grant Elementary School, Pratt Elementary School, Progress Elementary School, Ridgeview Elementary School, Adams Elementary School, and Ramsey Elementary School. Pacific Service Credit Union, Walnut Creek, Calif., has funded extracurricular programs at one of Contra Costa County’s Teenage Resource Centers by donating $2,500. Through the Contra Costa Family and Children’s Trust Fund, teens that attend the Center will be able to participate in such activities as cooking classes, jewelry making or job skills training. The program was created to attract the teens to the Center for fun, safe activities. SeaComm Federal Credit Union, Massena, N.Y., has raised over $16,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network by hosting a car raffle. Provided by a local GM dealer, a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo served as the grand prize. In addition, the credit union participated in an emergency Mock Jail fundraiser for the local Meals on Wheels organization in danger of going under. CEO Forrest Kimball and Marketing Director Jerry Manor were able to raise over $600 each and a total of $2,000 was donated by the credit union to the charity. In total, the Mock Jail raised in excess of $50,000 in one day for Meals on Wheels.
