ARLINGTON, Texas – Despite economic times, a recent Internet study by American Consumer Opinion reports that half of Americans do not regularly stay within their monthly budgets. The American Consumer Opinion “2002 Personal Opinion and Lifestyle Study,” finds that 50.4% of those surveyed report they are unable to stay within their budgets. In addition, respondents with a household income of less than $35,000 said they were more likely to stay within budget while those with incomes over $100,000 indicated they are not as diligent about staying on budget. Conducted from August 5 to August 12, the American Consumer Opinion survey drew on a balanced sample of 3,136 participants with the study’s margin of error as +/- 2% at a 95% confidence level.
