Consider using deactivation/activation feature for infrequent travelers. OCFO disagreed with this recommendation because the cardholder is ultimately responsible anyway and it would require a definition of `infrequent traveler.’ Office/regional reviewers should undergo AOPC/travel card management training. OFCO should review travel card usage at random for inappropriate use. OFCO recommended the cardholders’ supervisor notify OIG of possible misuse. NCUA should define `official government travel.’ Review patterns of activity for similar staff positions to determine reasonable monthly caps. Expand merchant code restrictions. Compare open travel card accounts with current NCUA employee roster at least annually. Review what is reasonable dollar activity level and establish appropriate monthly limits.
