NEW YORK – Ford Motor Co. has spiced up its 0% interest offer on 2002 model vehicles by allowing consumers who purchase those cars and trucks the chance to not make payments until 2003. Ford is offering 0% financing for up to 60 months on last year’s models as a way to clear out vehicles to make room for the 2003 vehicles that are now becoming available. The offer, and the new no-payment option, are available for vehicles purchased through Sept. 30. In July, General Motors Co. began offering 0% interest on 2002 vehicles. But GM dropped that offer in the beginning of September when it offered the incentive for most of its 2003 models through October. Ford responded by offering 0% interest in place on older model vehicles. Chrysler Group is also offering 0% interest on most 2003 models in response to GM’s incentive.
