Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, Broomhall, Pa., has donated computers to Chester Youthbuild, Chester Eastside Ministries and Eternal Hope of Glory Church. The credit union recently upgraded computers in all its offices. In addition to the donated Gateway computers, FMFCU purchased new monitors, keyboards and mouse. Each organization received six to 10 computers each. The donated computers will be used as a library and church computer lab in conjunction with educational programs. Langley Federal Credit Union, Hampton, Va., has helped “Stuff a Bus” with much needed school supplies. As part of local television station WAVY TV-10′s “Operation School Supplies” LFCU President/CEO Jean Yokum presented the credit union’s donation. Rogue Federal Credit Union, Medford, Ore., has donated its time to help insure the safe return of area children in the event a child turns up missing or lost. Volunteers photographed, thumb printed and assisted parents in recording important information and statistics which, when presented together as an ID Kit will assist law enforcement officials in identifying and locating missing or lost children. The Project KidCare ID kit includes a current standardized head and shoulders photograph and a thumbprint. According to the Department of Justice over one million children a year turn up lost or missing in the United States alone. This is the second year RFCU has provided this service to the community. This year ID kits were prepared and given to 900 children. Mountain America Credit Union, Salt Lake City, has raised $16,060 for the March of Dimes. MACU was among the top 25 corporate contributors in Utah and the fourth highest producing company in the state. The Credit Union raises the money in a variety of ways, including selling candy bars, stuffed animals and pins in branches. Employees also had the opportunity to buy a “Blue Jeans for Babies” sticker and wear blue jeans to work once a week while wearing the sticker. The money that was raised will help fund research for better prenatal care, vaccines, and gene therapies, among other things. U-Lane-O Credit Union, Eugene, Ore., has raised over $11,000 to benefit the National Parkinson’s Foundation during the fifth Annual James H. Warsaw 3-on-3Classic. This year more than 300 people participated in the event. All proceeds from the basketball tournament will be used toward finding a cure to Parkinson’s disease. San Antonio Federal Credit Union, Texas, has donated $1,000 to Linda Harlan, principal of Spring Branch Middle School in the Comal Independent School District, to help the teachers replenish school equipment and supplies lost in a July fire. The fire, which destroyed or damaged 20 of the school’s 40 classrooms, burned teachers’ own teaching aids and memorabilia as well as school supplies and equipment.
