MADISON, Wis. – Scholarships are available from the CUNA Lending Council to credit union lenders interested in furthering their professional development. Started in 1998, the CUNA Lending Council Scholarship program offers ten $500 scholarships per calendar year to eligible individuals. Awards may be used toward Lending Council dues, Lending Council conference registration, CUNA Center for Professional Development tuition, or tuition for coursework not offered in CPD programs. To be considered as a potential scholarship recipient, applicants must meet the following requirements: *Credit unions up to $50M in assets are eligible *One scholarship per credit union per year *Credit union must demonstrate a financial need *Full-time employees and volunteers from troubled credit unions are eligible. Recipients will be selected based on asset size, skills need, and financial need. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Entries must be postmarked at least 45 days prior to the starting date of the requested conference or school. Scholarship winners will be notified no later than 30 days prior to the starting date of the conference or school. So far, just three scholarships have been awarded in 2002. Recipients include: Jennifer Stewart, Alhambra CU, Phoenix, Arizona. Rachel Dillinger, Cowlitz CU, Longview, Washington Diane Dyer, Sabattus Regional CU, Sabattus, Maine.
