This 76 page commemorative issue of Credit Union Times is a first. Hopefully it will also be a last. In late summer 2001, only several weeks before the 9/11 tragedy, our editorial staff put the finishing touches on their 51 issue editorial calendar for the year 2002. A data processing and technology special report issue just happened to fall on what soon became an infamous date, September 11. Looking back 12 months later, it became obvious to the staff of Credit Union Times that September 11, 2002 could not pass without special credit union recognition of what happened on that very date of this issue one year ago. We felt it appropriate to look back from a credit union industry perspective. Although this publication has done dozens of special issues on many credit union related topics, it has never before produced a commemorative issue. We are doing it this time to recognize the involvement of credit unions and credit union people on the first anniversary of one of this country’s greatest tragedies. On behalf of our readers, advertisers, and suppliers, Credit Union Times’ employees and stockholders dedicate this commemorative issue to the memories of those who died, were injured, or in any way suffered personal losses because of September 11, 2001. It is our hope and prayer that never again does anything of this magnitude occur that would give us cause to do another commemorative issue. [email protected]
