MADISON, Wis. – CUNA has undergone a broad reorganization in its fee-based product and services departments. The goal, according to CUNA, is to streamline the departments and position them for future success. “We’ve been developing the concepts behind these organizational changes for nearly a year. We recognized then that inevitable future market challenges required changes in our organization,” said CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica. “We began an in-depth analysis with the aid of an independent consultant to determine what we wanted the organization to become and the changes required to meet those goals.” CUNA’s legislative, regulatory and legal advocacy activities in Washington and Madison were not affected. Its two for-profit subsidiaries, CUNA Strategic Services, Inc., and CUNA Network Services LLC were also not affected. Most of the changes are personnel in nature, as well as refocusing of departments and merging some departments. Among the major changes are the following: * Mike Miller is moving from SVP for the Center for Professional Development to SVP of Association Services, which will now blend CUNA’s training and education programs with its publications business. * Mark Condon is moving from SVP of Association Services to SVP of a newly created Research & Advisory Services area. “The mission of Research & Advisory Services will be to reach out to credit unions and provide competitive benchmarking and thought leadership as well as advisory services,” said CUNA EVP and COO Pete Crear. “We want to be able to provide answers to credit unions, help them understand what research and competitive intelligence means, and how they can apply it.” * Kevin Lytle, vice president of National Marketing, is moving to vice president of Strategic Business Development. * Jill Tomalin has been promoted to vice president of the Center for Professional Development. * Jim Hanson, vice president of Publications, is moving to vice president of Consumer Education. * Dean Archer, vice president of Meetings & Special Events, is moving to vice president of Executive Development, which will include CUNA Councils. * Dorothy Steffens is being promoted to vice president of Web Services. * Mary Welch is being promoted to vice president of Member Relationship Management. “Additional staff changes and redefinements deeper in the organizational chart are also occurring,” Crear said, noting that the scope of this reorganization is the largest for CUNA’s fee-based operations in 30 years.
