ST. LOUIS – Though details are few, Missouri Corporate CU President/CEO Dennis DeGroodt said that a meeting to discuss the corporate’s proposal for creating a Midwest regional corporate did take place. Back in June DeGroodt invited leaders from six Midwest corporates -Kansas Corporate CU, Nebraska Corporate Central FCU, Iowa League Corporate Central CU, Minnesota Corporate FCU, Midwest Corporate FCU and Treasure State Corporate CU – to attend a meeting to look at the possibility of creating one large Midwest regional corporate. DeGroodt would not say how many corporates attended the meeting or what was discussed, only saying that they will continue to consider the issue. When the story broke in June, DeGroodt said the corporate had been discussing the potential for some time after seeing some Midwest corporates get picked off by corporates outside of the region, but decided to speed up the process after hearing of the SunCorp/Nebraska Corporate merger deal. DeGroodt said the regional corporate could ensure that Midwest CUs’ interests are protected, and that the board is made up of Midwest representatives.
