WASHINGTON-CUNA is urging credit unions to hold small remembrance ceremonies on the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11. CUNA asked for a show of solidarity and support among the credit union community in memory of those who lost their lives and loved ones September 11, 2001. “In America, as among credit unions, unity, cooperation and compassion make us stronger as a nation and better as individuals,” CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica observed. “These two simple acts of remembrance, we believe, can elegantly convey the feelings of the credit union community that America is strong, united and will never forget the events of a year ago.” In addition to any other activities credit unions may have planned, CUNA is urging credit unions to observe a minute of silence on September 11, 2002, as well as drive with headlights on throughout the day.
