Michael Millis was named Director of CUNA’s Councils last September. Prior to that he was Director of Educational Resources in CUNA’s Center for Professional Development (CPD). The CUNA Councils are also part of the CPD. According to Millis, he is responsible for strategic direction, development, administration and marketing of all CUNA Councils. Millis’ credit union career started in 1995 as a Senior Training Specialist with CUNA Service Group, Inc., Card Services. Prior to that, Millis worked for Nordstrom National Credit Bank, Englewood, Colo., providing training and operational support in the proprietary and VISA divisions. Other professional experience includes developing and coordinating the internal training program for a nationally-affiliated chemical dependency treatment center in New Mexico, and as an English and Communication teacher for junior high and high school. He has an M.A. in Communication and a B.A. in Education from the University of Mexico; and a B.A. in English from the University of Denver. “In the entire financial services industry, there is no other source for this type of peer-to-peer information sharing and networking around strategic and operational challenges. I’m very excited to be a part of the team that is helping to tell the story of the councils,” said Millis.
