GREENSBORO, N.C. – The North Carolina Credit Union League has weighed in on two of the state’s most competitive upcoming election races. NCCUL is endorsing Elizabeth Dole, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate; and U.S. House candidates Frank Balance (D-1st district); Robin Hayes (R-9th district); and Brad Miller (D-13th district). NCCUL President/CEO Larry Johnson said the league recognized that decisions made in Washington, D.C. have a direct impact on credit unions’ ability to provide affordable financial services. “By supporting targeted candidates, we’re helping to ensure that our members will have representatives in Washington, D.C. that care about their issues,” said Johnson. NCCUL Assistant Vice President, Governmental Affairs Dan Schline added: “These are competitive campaigns where our direct involvement could help make a difference in the outcome of the races.” According to NCCUL annual polling data, more than one-third of the voters at the polls in North Carolina this fall will be credit union members.
