CULAC disbursements slow as elections heat up

WASHINGTON-Disbursements from the Credit Union Legislative Action Council of CUNA (CULAC) slowed during the month of July in comparison to June’s data, according to information from the Federal Elections Commission. Receipts dropped nearly $40,000 last month to $167,848 from June’s numbers. Campaign contributions dropped to $135,748, almost $46,000 less than in June. CULAC closed the month with nearly $400,000 in its coffers, more than $30,000 than the close of June. Top recipients of CULAC funds included Representative Nancy Johnson (R-Conn.) at $9,000 between her primary and general elections. She is in a tight race with Congressman Jim Maloney (D-Conn.), a Financial Services Committee member, after the state lost a district following the new census count. Congressman Dale Kildee (D-Mich.) received a total of $5,000, as did colleagues Jeff Miller (R-Fla.); Indiana Democrat Baron Hill; and Steve Pearce (R-N.M.).
