Arkansas Federal Credit Union, Jacksonville, President/CEO H.C. Klein has been named by NAFCU as one of the 10 most influential people in the credit union industry over the past 35 years. Klein was recognized for influencing others by example. During Klein’s tenure at AFCU, the credit union has grown from one office with 20,018 members and about $75 million in assets to seven branches with 56,000 members and about $330 million in assets. Missouri Credit Union System, St. Louis, President/CEI Rosie Holub has been named one of the 25 Most Influential Women in Business by the St. Louis Business Journal. Holub and the other honorees received a plaque recognizing their achievements. More than 150 people were nominated for this honor. A special section of the St. Louis Business Journal included a profile on Holub. Royal Oak Schools Credit Union, Mich., Vice President of Marketing Craig Tidwell has graduated from CUNA Management School. The school prepares leaders through the classroom work, yearly project assignments, and networking with fellow classmates. Greenville Federal Credit Union, S.C., President Paul F. Hughes has been awarded Junior Achievement Inc.’s second highest national award for volunteerism, the Silver Leadership Award. The Silver Leadership Awards are awarded each year to a select group of Junior Achievement’s top volunteers. The awards are based on each volunteer’s level of participation and leadership in Junior Achievement operations. For over five years, Hughes has been an active and engaged volunteer who has taught in the classroom, recruited over 40 volunteers and helped raise over $60,000 for JA in-school programs. North Carolina Credit Union League, Greensboro, has awarded Pasquotank County High School junior Josie Johnson a $500 savings bond for receiving first place in the “Money Smart from the Start” financial literacy essay contest. Students were asked to submit an essay of 500 words or less on why sound management of personal finances is important, and how this practice can help you achieve your life’s goals. State Treasurer Richard Moore selected the scholarship winners. The even was co-sponsored by North Carolina Credit Union Network and Carolinas Credit Union Foundation. Other essay award winners included second place – Steven Schaeffer, Sanderson High School and third place – Matthew Wentz, Sun Valley High School. Community One Federal Credit Union, Las Vegas, Vice President of Human Resources Shannon Dalton, Vice President of Branch Operations Fran Silverstein, and Center Pointe and Tenaya Branch Manager Tara Banua have all graduated from the Western CUNA Management School. The comprehensive program provided intense coverage of all facets of the credit union industry, including finance, marketing, and overall day-to-day operations. Portland Teachers Credit Union, Ore., has been presented the Best Practices Award for the $1 – 3 billion asset category at the Credit Union Direct Lending Auto Lending Symposium. This is the second consecutive year PTCU has received this honor. PTCU was recognized for its efforts in marketing, cross selling of additional loan and deposit products, and overall auto loan volume. Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union, West Lafayette, Ind., Network Administrator Lesli Rupel has earned the designation Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator. Rupel completed five classes and passed four tests to earn the designation.
