MADISON, Wis. – After just nine months on the job, CUNA Mutual SVP of Communications John Nelson is leaving the company. Nelson took over the position in November, replacing Larry Blanchard who is now SVP Corporate and Legislative Affairs, dealing with legislative issues that affect the insurance industry. Nelson came to CUNA Mutual from Motorola where he held a high-level communications position. “Over the past few months it became evident that it just wasn’t a good fit for both parties,” said CUNA Mutual Spokesperson Syd Lindner. Lindner said for now CUNA Mutual’s communications department will report to Lon Sprecher, SVP/International, but that by the end of the year the department will report to Jim Gowan, chief officer/sales and marketing. The search is underway for a new SVP of Communications.
