El Paso Employees Federal Credit Union, Texas, has awarded scholarships to 10 lucky high school students. This year again, and for 10 years in a row, six graduating high school seniors and four undergraduate students received a $1,000 scholarship each to assist in furthering their education. MAX Federal Credit Union, Montgomery, Ala., has announced the latest recipients of the MAX 4 Kids 2002 Scholarships. Ten $1,000 scholarships were awarded. Scholarship eligibility requirements included membership with MAX FCU, high school senior status in Spring 2002, a GPA of at least 3.0, and the recipient must begin college or technical school in the fall of 2002. Dupaco Community Credit Union, Dubuque, Iowa, has announced that the following students have been named $1,000 Tri-State-Area College Scholarship award recipients for 2002: Julie Bahl , Abby Eggers , and Jessica Gerlach. As Tri-State-Area College Scholarship winners, these students have been recognized for their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement and interest in the pursuit of an advanced degree. The Dupaco Community Credit Union Tri-State-Area College Scholarship Program was established in 1989 and offers up to three $1,000 scholarships to member students who plan to attend any tri-state-area accredited college or university that is located in Dupaco’s 21-county charter area. Gwinnett Federal Credit Union, Lawrenceville, Ga., has awarded a total of 16 scholarships this year. Eight Legacy scholarships, each in the amount of $1,500, were awarded to high school seniors who will be majoring in education in college and plan to return to Georgia to teach upon graduation. These scholarships are awarded in honor of past and present board members who have served on the credit union’s board of directors for 20 years or more. Eight Founders scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, were awarded to members to assist in their continuing education. These scholarships honor the seven individuals who founded Gwinnett FCU more than 40 years ago. Coastline Federal Credit Union, Jacksonville, FL, has awarded scholarships to two of its Generations Club members attending college or technical school in the fall. Jennifer M. Alderson and Travis E. Gibson each received $500 toward their college education. Coastline’s scholarship award program chooses recipients based on high school academic standing, school leadership, community involvement and submission of an essay on the value of credit union membership.
