Web services, which allow unprecedented interfacing between disparate computer applications and hardware, is a priority for Summit, which used the conference to showcase its leading-edge commitment to emerging open-access technologies. “The full impact of Web-based technologies and the open access they inherently provide is new to the credit union market, and the depth of its capabilities are yet to be fully envisioned,” said Kevin Sparks, president of the Oregon-based core processor for more than 310 credit unions. Summit used its bully pulpit to demonstrate such new products as Summit PathWays, which allows credit unions open access to the Summit Spectrum core system and enables them to easily deploy proprietary or third-party solutions ranging from Internet banking to internal work platforms. Content management, online-loan application and Internet banking products using such new standards as XML and SOAP also were demonstrated, the Fiserv unit said.
