NJDOT Credit Union, Ewing, N.J., has selected high school seniors Alyson L. Boyer and John W. Sullivan III as the 2002 scholarship recipients. Applicants submitted a list of honors, activities, work experience, personal goals, two essays, a written reference from a teacher, and an official high school transcript. Alyson L. Boyer, the first place winner, was awarded $1000 and second place winner John W. Sullivan III received a $500 scholarship. Sound Credit Union, Tacoma, Wash., has announced the three winners of its inaugural Sound Credit Union Scholarships. Brieanne Conklin of Gig Harbor High School; Brandon Wholey of Gig Harbor High School; and Scott Baxter of Emerald Ridge High School all received $1,000.00 towards their college education. Recipients of the Sound Credit Union Scholarship were selected based on academic performance, community and high school involvement, leadership, references, financial need, and participation in credit union services and activities. Michigan First Credit Union, Detroit, has awarded $13,500 in scholarships to 27 students in all. Recipients were chosen by their schools’ guidance counselors or scholarship committees based on outstanding academic achievement and community involvement. Each will receive $500 to apply towards books or tuition. One senior was chosen from each public high school within the credit union’s current field of membership.
