BOISE, Idaho – Gavin Gee, director of finance for the state's Financial Institutions Bureau was named to succeed New York Superintendent of Banks Elizabeth McCaul as the chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. Gee will serve as chairman of the 15-member Conference Board for one year. He was previously chairman-elect and prior to that, vice chairman. There are 54 members of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors representing the 50 states and U.S. territories. Thirty-seven of them also regulate credit unions. The Idaho FIB regulates, supervises and examines state-chartered credit unions, as well as commercial banks, savings banks, bank holding companies, trust companies, and business and industrial development corporations. There are 49 state-chartered credit unions in Idaho. Gee has been with the FIB since 1977. He began as an examiner on the securities side and also served as deputy attorney before moving to the management side of the FIB. He worked as securities bureau chief and financial institutions bureau chief before being named director of finance in 1995.
