TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – The battle against fraud is fought on many fields and AEDC Federal Credit Union is arming its senior members with education. With identity theft and scams on the rise the $760 million credit union teamed up with the Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee to host two free educational seminars for seniors. “Con men target seniors because that’s where the money is,” said BBB Representative Carol Foster. “People should be aware that just by saying the word `yes’ during a phone conversation can enter a person into a binding contract without any documents being signed.” Attendees received packets containing other helpful tips on preventing identity theft, mail and telephone fraud, and information about how to remove their names from mail and telephone marketing lists. Plans are underway to host additional seminars in the fall.
