ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions (NFCDCU) holds its 2002 annual meeting in Indianapolis from June 13-15. Highlights will include speeches from NCUA Board Chairman Dennis Dollar and Board Member Deborah Matz and a debate between CUNA senior economist Bill Hampel and Malcolm Bush, the executive director of the Chicago-based Woodstock Institute and noted credit union critic. The subject of the debate will be “Rhetoric or Reality: Are CUs Serving Low Income Communities?” The meeting will also touch on ways credit unions can more thoroughly and easily track and report their work with low income communities, innovations in the ways credit unions can reach out to low income members and the unbanked and how credit unions can tap available foundation and government funds for such outreach programs. Credit Union Times will provide full coverage in its June 26 issue.
