HARAHAN, La. – Connie Roy, CCUE, president/CEO of Lafayette Schools' FCU became the first recipient of the Louisiana Credit Union League's Edgar L. Fontaine Memorial Scholarship. Fontaine served as league president from 1947-1989, and he was president/CEO of Louisiana Central Credit Union from 1947 until his death in July 2000. The three-year scholarship awarded Roy is to the Southeast CUNA Management School in Athens, Ga. She will receive 100% tuition for the first year and 50% tuition for the second and third year. Roy was one of 12 professionals and volunteers who applied for the scholarship. Roy has been with LSFCU since 1988 and has been instrumental in developing the credit union's members to nearly 7,400 and its assets to nearly $53 million. She was appointed CEO of Lafayette Schools' in 2000.
