WASHINGTON – The House Financial Services Committee went live on May 1 with a new Web site that offers enhanced online information on the committee’s activities. House Financial Services Committee Chairman Michael Oxley (R-Ohio) said he hoped the new Web site “will open up the Committee’s business to an expanded audience while making information more useful and accessible.” The new site – financialservices.house.gov -provides information in an easier-to-use format than the previous format. The new front page design gives Web users a quick look at the Committee’s most recent headlines and scheduling information. Some sections have been consolidated to provide a more comprehensive look at the Committee’s operations, and some sections have been renamed. Information on the new site will be organized under: News, Committee Schedule, About the Committee, Subcommittees, Legislation, Hearings, Documents, Search and Links. All documents from the 107th Congress are posted on the new Web site. Information from the former Banking and Financial Services Committee Web site, the 105th and 106th Congresses under the Chairmanship of Rep. Jim Leach (R-Iowa) are available under “links” on the new Web site.
