MADISON, Wis. – Forget April 15th being tax deadline, consider it the credit union theme voting deadline. The World Council of Credit Unions, Inc. has for the first time this year encouraged credit unions, chapters, leagues and members to choose their favorite theme to celebrate International Credit Union Day. This year’s winning theme is “Credit Unions – Building a Better Tomorrow.” Voting was coordinated on WOCCU Web site (www.woccu.org), and 1,353 individuals from more than 25 countries participated. Of those that participated, 36% were in favor of the chosen theme, while a close 31% voted on “Credit Unions – Our Strength is Our Members.” The theme “Credit Unions – Bringing People Together” garnered 17% of the votes and “Credit Unions – Improving Tomorrow Together” earned 16% of the votes. WOCCU wanted to include the entire credit union movement in picking the theme.
