Five leagues network to create joint technology solutions

<p>PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Networking of the face-to-face kind among a small group of credit union league presidents has resulted in the creation of an informal project to improve the technology, and thus the direct services, at those organizations. While it has no name, lead technology types from the Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Georgia and Texas leagues have already produced one report on how to improve their internal databases by working together, and more is on the way, says Todd Mason, vice president of e-business at the Michigan Credit Union League and COO of CUVillage.com The group, which came together about a year ago as a result of conversations between the five league presidents at GAC meetings and the like, now is working on a new online compliance system that will help credit unions with that crucial work by making comprehensive information readily available on leagues’ Web sites. “While we’re looking at a whole range of technology issues, we’re really focusing right now on how to make the content of our Web sites more useful to our members,” Mason says. He says that solution is expected to be ready for use by the end of the year. While the informal group’s work is expected to stay in-house for now, Mason says “the potential is there” for products that could be deployed beyond the five leagues. “That’s one of the reasons we’re in dialogues with the AACUL (American Association of Credit Union Leagues) about what we’re doing,” he says.</p>
