<p>Credit Union Times is an excellent publication, but some of the recent news articles make me think of all the changes that have taken place since those days long gone by when CUNA met in the spacious and drafty Dane County Fairgrounds building in Madison, Wisconsin. I only mention this ancient history to revive thoughts of how great we all felt back then that we were doing good things and making steady progress in creating something that was truly new and different for people who needed what credit unions could provide. Today, it seems like technology has reduced operations to numbers and machinery and in the process driven members far from an understanding of their roles and goals in the grand scheme of credit unions. It seems to me that more than ever we desperately need something or someone (not the government) to remind us of our origins, helps us build on them, and keep credit unions on the same track that was envisioned by those early leaders meeting in Madison.
