BEAVERTON, Ore. – Remember those little View Masters as a kid where you could view a series of colorful slides? If you’re not sure and you’re a Digital Insight client, you’re about to get your memory jogged. Corillian is continuing to aggressively market to Digital Insight credit union clients. In its latest direct mail piece, Corillian is sending DI CU clients View Masters with a mini slide show highlighting what Corillian believes are its advantages over DI and other vendors. The slide show starts out with, “Why is Corillian the #1 eFinance vendor for the Top 100 credit unions?” Seven slides then follow on that theme. Approximately 1,000 of the View Masters were mailed out. Many went to DI clients, while others went to VIFI clients, and still others to CUs Corillian views as “innovative.” Corillian is targeting VIFI clients as well because of the VIFI/DI merger, with DI doing the acquiring. Earlier this year Corillian began a targeted campaign to win over Digital Insight clients. Traditionally a player in the commercial and community bank markets, Corillian said credit unions will be a main priority this year and going forward. According to Corillian Chief Evangelist Matt Cone, the marketing push is working. “It was a well-timed initiative. We have a number of new proposals out there, and some very good buy signals. The actual hard contracts will hopefully be in the next few weeks,” said Cone. Cone did admit that DI clients are not under the gun to find a Net banking provider as much as VIFI clients may be because they have to migrate off the VIFI platform and on to DI’s as a byproduct of the merger. “The DI customers don’t have to move as fast,” said Cone, though he expects to lure at least some away in the coming weeks. Digital Insight execs have said that they welcome the competition and doubt that Corillian has the relationships with CU DP vendors to build the CU client base it has. Corillian did recently sign a large CU client that was on a Fiserv Net banking platform. The $400 million U of C FCU, Boulder, CO, will migrate to Corillian’s Voyager SE platform. Cone said the assault on DI has had the unintended effect of informing other CUs about who Corillian is. Interestingly, Corillian may soon see an old big banking competitor in CU competitive situations. S1 recently announced that they plan to more aggressively market to credit unions (CU Times, March 6). “It’s always curious what S1′s direction is. We’ve beat them in many places around the world,” said Cone. S1 maintains that Corillian is only a competitor with Net banking, while its solution is now multi-channel, not just Net banking. As for how long Corillian will target DI CU clients, Cone said, “as long as they have customers.” [email protected]
