SUFFOLK, Va. – Nansemond Credit Union is headed back to elementary school. The $3 million credit union has brought its Little Savers Club to Booker T. Washington Elementary School to teach students the value of savings. " I hope this is the first of many school/CU partnerships," said NCU CEO Karen Jenkins. " I've been amazed at the school response. When we started this we anticipated working with just a couple of schools, but once work got out other local schools wanted to be a part of the program." According to Jenkins, she will probably need to recruit volunteers to help reach all the local schools. The program sets up accounts for the young savers and teaches them the importance of building their savings in a fun way. On the program's opening day 43 new accounts were established with total deposits reaching $268.50.
