<p>JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – When the Missouri Credit Union Commission holds its open meeting on February 15 one of the items on the agenda it will take up is hearing from attorneys representing the bankers and credit unions on the appeal filed last year by the Missouri Bankers Association of the field-of-membership expansion decision granted Educational Employees CU in Bridgeton. Director John Smith of the Missouri Credit Union Division published his decision to approve the application from EECU to serve anyone who lives or works in St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Cape Giradeau and Franklin counties in the Feb. 15, 2001 Missouri Register. Shortly after that, the Missouri Bankers Association and a local bank appealed Smith's decision to the Credit Union Commission. The Commission was briefed on the bankers' appeal in October 2001. At that time, attorneys for both sides exchanged briefs and entered into the discovery phase of the case.</p>
