<p>South Carolina Federal Credit Union, Charleston, has donated a total of $55,288 to the United Way. SCFCU made a corporate contribution of $11,500; employees raised the remaining $43,788. Employees increased their giving by 10% over last year and 100% of the employees contributed this year. METRO Credit Union, Warren, Mich., has raised a total of $6,975 for several charities in 2001 by "dressing down" on Fridays. Participating in the Jeans for a Cause Day program, employees donated $5 to the monthly charity. Donations were made to local chapters of the following non-profit organizations: Make-a-Wish Foundation; Alzheimer's Association; Tarkowski Children's Fund; Multiple Sclerosis Society; JAKE and My Friends Care BMT Fund; National Stroke Association; Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society; Michigan Humane Society; American Cancer Society; Salvation Army; and Animal Welfare of Southeastern Michigan. Donations were also made to various September 11 disaster relief funds. Telhio Credit Union, Columbus, Ohio, Board Vice Chairman Pat Zollars did his "time" behind bars to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Zollars was one of 20 participants in the MDA Lock-Up event. Over $1,795 was raised. According to MDA officials $525 sends one child to a weeklong MDA summer camp. Remaining funds are used to offer emotional and practical support groups for individuals and their families. In addition, funds are used to assist with the research of over 400 investigations. Pacific Community Credit Union, Fullerton, Calif., has raised $4,320 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Employees and members participated in such fundraising efforts as employee-match programs, skip-a-payment promotions and bumper sticker sales. Aerospace Community Credit Union, St. Charles, Mo., has raised over $15,000 for the Children's Miracle Network. To reach the record donation ACCU held many fundraising events ranging from bake sales and selling ACCU cookbooks, to employee CMN deductions from payroll checks and holding its first CMN Golf Classic.</p>
