<p>ST. PAUL, Minn. – Deluxe Corp.'s printing facility in Salt Lake City received the 2001 Excellence in Lean Manufacturing Award from the Utah Manufacturing Extension Partnership. The award recognizes the company's achievements in quality, service and cost management. The Lean Manufacturing philosophy focuses on eliminateing waste and continuously improving activities associated with the quality, cost and delivery of products to customers. The Utah MEP began working with managers at Deluxe's Salt Lake City plant in early 2001. The team of MEP engineers conducted lean manufacturing workshops to help Deluxe identify opportunities to streamline its production process. James Bliss, senior project engineer for Utah MEP said, "Deluxe quickly became a model of corporate leadership and lean manufacturing implementation."</p>
