FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – The Texas Credit Union League will hold four 2002 Home Equity Lending Seminars to assist credit unions with setting up a home equity lending program and to provide them with a better understanding of the Texas Constitutional Amendment allowing home equity lending. The seminars will be held Feb. 5 in Dallas; Feb. 7, Houston; Feb. 12, San Antonio; and Feb. 14, Midland/Odessa. The amendment was passed four years ago, but only a small number of credit unions in the state are offering home equity loans to their members. The league opined that the complicated nature of the amendment might have something to do with credit unions' reluctance to make home equity loans. Each one-day seminar is divided into two program sessions. Credit union lenders can choose whether they're interested in attending the introductory session, the update program, or both sessions.
