<p>MADISON, Wis. – The Filene Research Institute has filled six new members of its Research Council, the policy making body for directing management research projects for the industry in 2002. Appointed earlier this month to serve three-year terms are: David Brock, CEO, Community Educators’ Credit Union, Rockledge, Fla.; W. Craig Esrael, CEO, First South Credit Union, Bartlett, Tenn., and Frank Pollack, CEO, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Alexandria, Va. The trio joins the 30 member Council which oversees the research work of the Institute and guides the industry `think tank’ in determining priorities of the 1,400-member organization and of the Center for Credit Union Research at the University of Wisconsin’s Graduate School of Business. Last July the Institute picked three more new Council members, also serving three-year terms. They are: Charles F. Emmer, CEO, ENT Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Harriet B. May, CEO, Government Employees Credit Union of El Paso, Texas, and Jack Sheets, CEO, Elkhart County Farm Bureau Credit Union, Goshen, Ind. The Institute itself is governed by an Administrative Board made up of CEOs of credit unions; the CEOs of CUNA & Affiliates and CUNA Mutual Group; the chairman of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues; and the dean of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. The Institute’s research priorities are determined by the Research Council comprised of the 30 CEOs and the president of the Credit Union Executives Society. Outgoing Research Council Members CEOs whose terms ended as of January, 2002 included: Bob Hoefer, Dupaco Community Credit Union, Dubuque, Iowa; John May, Texas Dow Employees Credit Union, Lake Jackson, Tex.; Russ Plunkett, St. Paul Postal Employees Credit Union, St. Paul, Minn.; Thomas Sargent, First Technology Credit Union, Beaverton, Ore.; and Greg Smith, Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, Harrisburg.</p>
