WASHINGTON – Consumers' interested in discovering what complaints have been filed against insurance companies or agents can now go to one handy site- www.naic.org. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners has made consumer complaint data on individual insurers available online. Data is listed not only by state, but also by cause and type such as auto, homeowner or life. A visual gas gauge shows how one insurer measures up to all others. Consumers can also file complaints on the site. "For the first time, consumers in all states have access to an important measure of insurer quality of service," said Consumer Federation of America Director of Insurance J. Robert Hunter. "These complaint data complement information on insurer rates that most consumers can obtain from their state department." Consumers interested in accessing information can enter the NAIC Web site and click on Consumer Information Source.
