HONOLULU – Deborah Kim, executive vice president of Hawaii State FCU, has become the first woman to be president of the state’s largest credit union in its 65-year history. Kim took over the reins when former president Peter Leong retired on Dec. 7 after 10 years of service with the $500 million credit union. Kim has been the executive vice president of HSFCU since 1992 and responsible for the administration and day-to-day operations of the credit union. Prior to joing HSFCU, Kim worked with the Hawaii Credit Union League as a program and resource consultant from 1988 – 1992, and as general manager of Duty Free Shoppers FCU from 1986 – 1987. Kim is a lifelong Hawaii resident.
