BEAVERTON, Mich. and KINGSTON, N.Y. – The credit union world recently lost two longtime veterans. Robert Winne, a veteran credit union volunteer for almost 40 years and a founding member of IBM Kingston Employees CU in 1963, passed away in September. Winne was Director Emeritus at the time of his death of the credit union that is now called Mid-Hudson Valley FCU. Winne served continuously on the CU’s board of directors, was elected chairman of the Credit Committee in 1963, and served as Board Secretary from 1982 to 1988, and again from 1990 to 1993, when he stepped aside at age 70 to become Director Emeritus. Winne is survived by his wife Grace, son Michael and daughter Lauren. David Wright, a former CUNA chairman and chair of the Michigan Credit Union League, died Nov. 14. Wright’s involvement with credit unions began in 1959 when he volunteered at Security FCU in Flint, Mich. He eventually became SFCU’s treasurer. In 1963, Wright was elected director of the Michigan league. He served as chair of the league from 1975-1978, and CUNA chair from 1978-1979.
